Dear friends at Liss Junior School, Clanfield, WestMeon, Hartplain and all friends in England and all well-wishers in the entire World.
Long time since we last communicated, how thrilled that we are able to communicate today.
All along we have been on our holiday for which started early December 2013 and have come to an end this February.
I must mention that it has been a very nice year with a lot of activities and preparations for our pupils who leave primary going to secondary having completed seven years of primary education.
I must begin by thanking you all for your prayers the above were possible and our children managed to score very well.
Back to the school situation,
We resumed school last week with a lot of good news which included the news of our pupils performance, the children were mostly thrilled by the news of our visitors who are coming up in this month including Stu who is known by his ‘commando’ appearance by the time he visited Uganda for the first time in military uniform.
It just started late in 2012 when Yowasi had a plan to start up a library having observed that children lacked reading skills.
This factor affected their performance as most of the work is set in English language.
This led to a plan to contact all friends to help in making it more meaningful by donating old books and all reading material.
When Yowasi visited UK in Feb and March, Liss Junior school volunteered to find old reading books that they were not using, the school administration provided some books for the idea Yowasi had raised.
Unfortunately, he lacked the best way he could bring them all with him to Uganda as his carriage was limited yet the children had thirsty for the reading materials.
In addition to this drawing materials are also important for the children in nursery who like shading and drawing.
In this, crayons and colored pencils can help the junior section at Kafuro and other twinned schools.
In addition any audio material like Amazon kindles one is no longer using and would like to donate them to the children would improve their listening skills for they can be used in a lesson to master English language.
Our volunteer visitors to Uganda will deliver its time now all well-wishers to volunteer and participate in this ‘DONATE A BOOK PROJECT’ by donating any kind of reading book to the Queen Elizabeth Parks Twinning Project and these books.
Yowasi will deliver them to all schools in the Twinning project as they will all need this very much for the children lack enough reading practice due to lack of reading material
The ‘Donate a book Project’ does not consider who is donating a book, it is easy and simple as old books and other reading materials are all required for our Ugandan children need to get reading skills.
Feel very free to contact any member of the Twinning project for the above activity.
You can as well contact Mr. Adam Stanley at Liss Junior School for a book donation.
Thanks for your help for the children in twinned schools of Uganda.
For linked schools, I would recommend to set a collection ground at different schools and of which after the books can be delivered to the Twinning Project offices in the Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire England where we can plan their delivery to Uganda.
This will be through our volunteers who come to Uganda from the Twinning Project.
Thanks very much.
WE HAVE A TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE COMING IN UGANDA THIS MONTH AND HAVE ASSURED ME TO HAVE SOME SPACE FOR THE BOOKS, SO FEEL OK TO DONATE THE BOOK THIS WEEK AND YOUR EFFORTS WILL BE PUBLISHED.
Thank very much for your kind and giving heart to improve reading skills of children in Uganda.
