Cooking our own Ugandan-style meals

Greetings to all our friends in Kafuro. Some weeks ago we blogged that the children in Year 6 had been researching Ugandan food. Since then they have been designing their own Ugandan-style meals and yesterday they made their own covering as many food groups as possible.

The children used both the oven in our kitchen and also the cob oven to cook their meals. Mr Stanley was very impressed with the way that a cob oven cooked muchomos – he said that the fierce heat sears the meat quickly and seals the flavour in so the meat is moist and tasty.

The children created meals with a variety of foodstuffs: roast IRISH potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, pineapple, muchomos, chapatis, plantain chips salad and even omelette. The photos below show the children’s creations which they enjoyed eating. We would like to know what English foods Kafuro children would like to try?
