School Grounds Day at Liss

After nearly six months hard work planning and preparation today was School Grounds Day  at Liss Junior School. There were to be no curriculum lessons today; the entire day was to be devoted to developing the school grounds.

Each class will post separately to tell the children at Kafuro what they’ve been working on, but just to whet your appetite this is what was expected to be achieved today.

Class HG: Using old tyres to plant crops

Class JA: Building a cob oven

Class BM: Creating a minibeast hotel

Class NL: Clearing the school garden and replanting it

Class DC: Making bird feeders

Class KB: Planting an orchard with fruit trees

Class MG: Making butterfly houses and planting flowers to attract butterflies

Class AS: Planting rosemary bushes and working with rangers from Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Class KR: Making hanging baskets out of recycled plastic bottles.

Additionally, each class would have an opportunity to work with Mr Haycock, our site manager to make a recycled plastic bottle greenhouse and to work with Louise Arthur making a variety of objects using willow.

Keep an eye on the blog for reports of all the activities over the coming days. Lastly, many thanks to the children and teachers at Kafuro for all your latest news. We are delighted the new headteacher has agreed to your request for a football and a netball court. Also we wish to offer our congratulations to all the children who became prefects and to the new Head Boy and Head Girl.
