Dear Friends in P2,
Here in JA we have been looking at eating seasonally. We have found out that some vegetables do not grow all year round, though we can buy them in the supermarket. We think it is a good idea to eat vegetables when they grow, rather than always eat vegetables from other countries. This is better for us and kinder to the planet as we don’t need fuel to get them to us.
Here are some vegetables in season in the UK in April: leeks, peas, new potatoes, spring greens, kale.
What vegetables do you eat that are in season at the moment?
Do you still grow vegetables at your school?
Our teacher has told us that you grow yams but that they will not be ready to eat yet. Is this true?
